I’ve been working on something for a while.
It’s been about a year, I guess, since the idea for Emily Kathryn Yoga came into my life. It’s taken many iterations since it first came to me. Like any self-respecting idea, it kept after me. When I tried to argue with this idea, there it was, always with a smart rebuttal. When the world said no, in the form of a global pandemic, no less, the idea did not back down. Who does this idea think it is?
It brought me a book called Big Magic, in which Elizabeth Gilbert explained to me how ideas work. I better get serious with this idea, or it would find someone who was. Then this idea did something I never could have seen coming. It took me to Haven Wellness + Spa – a wellness collective that felt like home and its amazing founder Katie – and even though we wear masks now, I could see the eyes of a visionary and a friend.
I could no longer argue with the idea. So I told a few people, you know, test the waters. And darnit they liked the idea. Now this idea has me telling you all about it. I’m worried because it’s still a work in progress – but the idea is fearless. The idea knows how far we’ve come together.
Yesterday, this idea and I packed up our yoga props and moved into Haven. I’m thrilled, honored, and a little awestruck to be joining a magical collective of holistic healers. If you want to follow along, I’ll spend the next few weeks telling you about myself and my services and sharing the building of my little studio space.
